2018-2019 Board of Directors
In June of 2016, a Board of Directors was slated from a group of parents who expressed interest in serving in a leadership role. The inaugural Board will serve a two year term, and they are looking for help in each of their focus areas. Please let us know if you would like to volunteer!
Future Cougars: Charlie (class of 2019) and Gwenie (class of 2021)
I am a part time stay-at-home mom with a three year old, Charlie (Lee Cougar class of 2019) and a one year old, Gwenie (Lee Cougar class of 2021). My husband, Ben, has a veterinary clinic that has served family pets in our neighborhood for the last eleven years. I have lived and worked in East Dallas for almost twenty years and this is truly my home now. I am also involved as a board member for Heart House Dallas, an after-school program for refugees in the Vickery Meadows neighborhood. When I'm not running after Charlie and Gwenie (which is basically all we do at the current moment), I love cooking with my husband, squeezing in a run, dreaming about our next trip to Italy and hanging out with family and friends.
I will be serving Pre-Lee as the President Elect to help support our fearless leader Wendy and learn the ropes for when it's my turn to take the lead. My pre-Mom life was a career with DISD for fifteen years so hopefully my experience in elementary education will be an asset in this role for Pre-Lee. I have a strong passion for public education and our corner of East Dallas which drew me to Pre-Lee. The bonus of meeting other moms at the same phase of life as me who I can lean on or pour a glass of wine for is priceless. I am excited about the momentum that is building at Lee and can't wait to see how Pre-Lee can help Lee get better and better.
Lives in Belmont Addition
Future Cougars: Charlie (Class of 2020) and Faye (Class of 2021)
My husband Brandon and I have lived in Belmont Addition since 2012 and our son Charlie attends Spanish House part time. I work full time heading up a private mortgage firm and Brandon owns his our personal fitness company. A huge draw to the neighborhood is all of the young families and the dual-language program at Lee. Being bilingual, it is important my kids are as well and so glad to see a school offer a great program!
In my free (limited) time, I enjoy teaching prenatal and postnatal yoga to mommies at several studios in the area and eating at new restaurants-especially if they have a rockin happy hour! Got to eat earlier with kiddos these days :)
As VP of Membership, my goal is to recruit and welcome new members. Plan to see me in the area educating parents about the amazing benefits available to members of Pre-Lee!
Future Cougar: Jenna (2022)
My husband Stuart and I are both East Dallas natives. Stuart grew up in Lake Highlands, and I grew up a few blocks from Tietze - my parents still live in the same house. I am a product of Stonewall Jackson (shh, don’t tell!), J. L. Long and Woodrow Wilson. Fun fact - Principal Hart was my 6th grade teacher so I can vouch for him! Growing up here, we’ve seen how much East Dallas and Lower Greenville has changed for the better, including Lee! After we got married, we immediately started looking for a house in the area. We first rented a duplex on Miller and a year later we moved three blocks down the road a bought a house on Llano. We love the neighborhood and its walkability - not only do we have awesome neighbors but there are so many fun community traditions like the annual BACD Porch Crawl and St. Patty’s Day!
I own a boutique public relations agency, Dala Communications, and Stuart heads up development for The Concilio, a non-profit in Oak Cliff. We first got involved in Pre-Lee through Wendy. Wendy’s construction firm is one of my long-time clients. I didn’t work with Wendy directly but we were introduced through her colleague who said, “you have to meet Wendy. She is the queen of moms in your neighborhood.” He was right! The group has grown so much since it began, and it has been a blast to be a part of the excitement and momentum that is Pre-Lee.
As VP of Communications, my role is to continue to get the word out to the community and our neighbors about all of the wonderful things Pre-Lee has in store. From creating our monthly newsletters to ensuring our events are well publicized, I’m focused on growing awareness for our fun network of parents and neighbors, with the goal of getting more members and prospects involved. A more engaged community only means one thing for our neighborhood school – a better education for our kids and all who attend Lee!
Future Cougars: Lucca (Class of 2020) and Layla (Class of 2022)
My husband Tom and I moved from Denver to Dallas in 2012 for work. The mountains have our hearts and we plan to get back there ASAP. Until then we’re working on getting some land out by a river with an airstream. Let me know if you have any leads! I work in Business Development at an Aviation firm in the DFW area. I became involved with Pre-Lee after a pop up mimosas in the park play date when my little guy was just starting to crawl. We plopped our babes on a blanket and watched as they grabbed toys and bottles from each other’s hands. What started out as Wendy’s Wednesdays happy hour quickly turning into Pre-Lee MNO!
As VP of Programming I will be focusing on bringing our community together with fun events! From cookie decorating in the park to Dad’s Dates with the kids and everything in between. Thank you for all your support and help in making our little neighborhood one to brag about!
Future Cougars: Olivia (class of 2019) and James (class of 2022)
My husband Matt and I moved to Dallas from Chicago in 2010. We loved living in Uptown for 5 years but after baby #2 we decided we might get funny looks pushing a double stroller by the bars every day. We moved to our house on Willis in the fall of 2015 and absolutely love living in Vickery Place. I am a CPA and work in audit for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) and my husband works in sales for Bacardi USA. Our daughter Olivia currently attends Incarnation Academy two days a week.
As the Pre-Lee Treasurer, I will strive to ensure that the Pre-Lee Association is accountable to all of its members. I will monitor appropriate use of funds and will maintain accurate and timely books and records. Becoming a part of Pre-Lee has been such an amazing way to get to know other parents in the neighborhood and get involved in the community. The school has so much potential and I am excited to see what can happen when we all get involved and show our support.
Belmont Addition Conservation District
Future Cougars: Dylan (2019), Olivia (2021)
My husband, Matt, and I have lived in the area since 2006. We lived first on Richmond before moving two streets over to Goliad in 2014. Right now our son Dylan goes to Primrose of Preston Hollow where his sister Olivia will follow someday. I work in sales for a medical software company called Addison Health Systems on a part time basis. Matt works for Trammell Crow Residential.
When I'm not chasing after one of our kiddos, you can find me somewhere on Lower Greenville, decorating for an upcoming holiday, cooking or planning our next trip abroad
As a Co-Secretary, I record and share our meeting notes and also help out with various tasks that other board members may need help with.
Belmont Addition Conservation District (BACD)
Future Cougars: Jamis (2022)
My husband, Jarrett, beat me to the BACD in 2009, but I was quick to join him a few years later. We love East Dallas, particularly the culture and people it encompasses, and could not be more excited about raising our family here. I am an employment litigation attorney at Andrews Kurth Kenyon, LLP located downtown. When I am not working on the ever-so-fun billable hours, I love traveling, sailing, running, White Rock lake, live music, cooking (and eating), and spending as much time as possible with our family and friends.
I am so honored and excited to be a part of the Pre-Lee Board. I hope to utilize the tools that I have gained through my legal career in my role as Parliamentarian, and give back everything I can to ensure this amazing organization continues to prosper for the benefit of our community and our children.
Belmont Addition (BACD)
Future Cougars: Tessa (2017), Clara (2020) & Julia (2020)
My husband, Scott and I have lived on in BACD since 2005. We believe this area of East Dallas is the crème de la crème and can't imagine living anywhere else in Dallas! Our 5 year old started kindergarten at Lee this year and we couldn't be happier with the school. She's loving it! When we aren't enjoying the patios of Lower Greenville, we are off on camping trips or at the zoo with our 5 year old and 3 year old twin daughters.
I feel very fortunate to be part of the the Pre-Lee Board, which is made up of an amazing group of moms dedicated to supporting our local Robert E. Lee Elementary and providing the best education for our kids.
Future Cougars: Wilhelmina (2019), Franklin (2021)
My husband, Eric, and I have lived on Vanderbilt since 2011 and our children currently attend Community School of the Park Cities. I work full time as a Financial Systems Analyst for Jones Lang LaSalle, and my job brought the entire family to Chicago for five months this year. While wintering in Chicago is fun (not!), there's no place like home and we're so happy to be back and surrounded by our friends and neighbors. Our home is currently undergoing a major renovation so we can stay here forever :).
As VP of Fund Development, I oversee our fundraising initiatives and manage donor relationships. Our annual membership dues cover basic administrative and operating costs for our organization, but additional funds are required for special projects at Geneva Heights Elementary, additional administrative costs such as our website & member database, and social and educational events for our members. Our signature fundraising events - Tossing for Tots & Geneva Nights (coming in 2019!) allow us to provide direct, financial assistance to the school when there is a need raised by Principal Hart & the PTA. Without financial and in-kind contributions from local businesses, individuals, and other community partners, we would not be able to achieve our mission. If you or someone you know may be interested in becoming a sponsor, please don't hesitate to reach out to me and check out more information at www.preleedallas.com/Support.
Current Cougar: Reva - Kindergarten
Future Cougar: Booker (2020)
I moved to Dallas in 2007 after meeting my husband Matt, (a Dallas guy), in New York City. We "aged out" of Uptown a few years later and settled in on Lakeshore Drive. I work full time as an HR Director for McCarthy Building Companies which takes me to many exotic places like El Paso, St. Louis and Bayport. I got involved with Pre Lee In 2014 after meeting with a few current PTA parents. I realized what a little gem of a school (IB, free and public!) we had right in our own neighborhood. They encouraged me to go forth and build out the "Pre Lee" program to educate our neighbors about the great opportunities and programs Lee had to offer to future students. This gig keeps me busy, but its led me to some fabulous friends, parents of my kids' future classmates and connected me to my community. On a lighter note....if you need restaurant recommendations, want to know what's good on Instagram or missed last nights episode of Ink Master, I'm your girl.
As the President, I help the group set the vision, timeline and strategy. I am the lead wrangler at our Board Meetings and support the team in everyway I can to make this group a success, for our school and for our kids' futures. Please reach out to me with any questions, suggestions or comments!
